Verna McSween Munro (née Shipley) of RR 2, Tiverton, died at Tiverton Park Manor, Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, in her 104th year. Beloved wife of the late Neil Munro. Dear mother of Dennis Neil Munro of RR 2, Tiverton; and Cheryl Ann Casey of London. Loved grandmother of Patrick. Also missed by many cousins, friends and the residents and staff at Tiverton Park Manor. Predeceased by her parents Archie and Anna Rae Shipley (née McSween); and son-in-law, Stephen Wayne Casey. Verna told reporters on her 100th birthday, and every birthday since, that  being raised a farm girl, as well as hard work and clean living, are what she credited for having enjoyed such a long and happy life. Born Sept. 10, 1913, she grew up on a farm on Concession 2, Sideroad 15, in Bruce Township, raising horses and riding bareback. She lived in Tiverton for many years, and moved to Tiverton Park Manor in August, 2007, where she enjoyed playing euchre every Thursday and whenever she could get a group together. She also liked doing word-search puzzles. Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., where the funeral will be held Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at 2 p.m., with Rev. David Chang of Knox Presbyterian Church, Tiverton, officiating. Spring interment, Tiverton Cemetery. Memorial donations to Knox Presbyterian Church, Tiverton, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
