EDITH "IRENE" BRADLEY (née HENRY)

March 21, 2017

Edith “Irene” Bradley of Tiverton died at Tiverton Park Manor, Tuesday, March 21, 2017, in her 105th year. Beloved wife of the late H. Stuart Bradley who predeceased her in 1998. Dear mother of Doris (Ernie) Young of Bruce Township and Gordon (Lois) Bradley of Kincardine. Cherished grandmother of Jim (Rose Marie) Young, Bill (Nancy) Young, Brian (Kathryn) Young, Roger (Caroline) Young, June (Laverne) Walker, Linda Young, Joan Bradley (Nick Bjelan) and Donald (Lisa) Bradley. Great grandmother of Amy (Andrew) Hallman, Corey Young, Ashley Young, Devon Young, Caitlin Young, Cristina Young, Brandie (Steve) Bernard, Ryan (Kaitlyn) Young, Samantha (Jon) Hootnick, Jacob Walker, Dylan Young, Jillian Bjelan, Robyn Bjelan, Erin Bjelan, Scott Bradley and Maura Bradley. Great-great grandmother of Colton Bernard, Kaydence and Nash Young. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother, Melville (Mildred) Henry; her sister, Agnes (Gordon) Lyons; sister-in-law, Irene (Fales) Bonnett; and brother-in-law, Hugh (Arthena) Bradley. Also predeceased by infant daughter, Gladys; great-grandson, Aaron Walker; and great-great-granddaughter, Blayre Bernard. Born Dec. 20, 1912, in the Amberley area, Irene was the daughter of John and Edith (Robb) Henry. She married Stuart Bradley in 1935 and they farmed on the Bruce-Kincardine Boundary, east of Tiverton, until they retired to Kincardine in 1966. They later lived in Inverhuron for 25 years, and she has been a resident of Tiverton Park Manor for the past 10 years. She always credited good food and hard work for living such a long and happy life. She enjoyed curling up in her chair and reading the paper every day, visiting with family, taking part in the activities at Tiverton Park Manor, especially the special birthday parties every year, and going for tea. Irene had a fondness for genealogy and was like a walking history book - she could tell you who everyone was in the neighbourhood and in her family, and how people were related. She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Tiverton, and the Women's Missionary Society there, as well as the Tiverton Women's Institute. Her family wishes to express special thanks to the staff and management of Tiverton Park Manor, and to Dr. Gary Gurbin for the excellent care through the years. Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, Thursday, March 23, 2017, from 7-9, and Friday, March 24, 2017, from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m., with Rev. David Chang officiating. Spring interment, Kincardine Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Knox Presbyterian Church, Tiverton, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
