John Edward Whitten of Kincardine died Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, surrounded by his family, at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine, after a brief battle with cancer. He was 68. John is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Kathleen Janet "Jan" Whitten (Lizmore); his mother, Joyce Corleen Whitten of Goderich; and his children, Scott (Paula) Whitten of Waterloo, and Stacey (Chris) Hauser of Owen Sound; as well as his four grandchildren, Noah Whitten, Jenifer Hauser, Cole Hauser and Maya Whitten-Desroches. Predeceased by his father, John (Scotty) Whitten of Goderich; and his sister, Ruth (Dave) Million of Goderich. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Blackhorse Golf and Country Resort, 1436 Bruce County Road 1, east of Kincardine and north of Lucknow. John's fantastic photography will be on display during the celebration and everyone is encouraged to contribute if they have anything of his. There will be a memorial tree planted in his honour, along with a bench and plaque at his favourite spot, but this may not happen on that day. The course will be open if anyone would like to join in a round of golf afterwards. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. |
