Norma Ethelwyn Hoover (née Young), died peacefully at her residence, Trillium Court in Kincardine, Nov. 4, 2016, at the age of 100. Born Aug. 3, 1916, in the Young home on the banks of the Grand River, she was one of six children born to Harry and Winnie (née Martindale) Young. She celebrated her 100th birthday this past August surrounded by family; "getting the whole gang together" as she liked to say. Beloved wife of the late Wesley Hoover (1988). Dear mother of Doug Hoover (Cheryl) of Vancouver. Missed by her grandsons, Randy Hoover (Darlene) of Glencoe, Chris Hoover (Diane) of Ilderton, Grant Hoover (Ann) of Kincardine, Mathew Hoover of Vancouver, and Joe Hoover (Emma) of Calgary; and great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Samantha, Andrew, Ryan, Dylan and Evan. Also survived by her sister, Rita Hewitt (Leonard); and in-laws, Shirley Young, Bob Hoover (Charlotte) and Albert Hoover (Donna). Predeceased by her son, Kenneth Hoover, and his wife, Shirley (née Flowers); brothers, Oliver Young (Marjorie), Kenneth Young (Vicky) and Jack Young; sister, Dorothy Shannon (Ted); and sister-in-law, Frances Docherty. A funeral to celebrate Norma’s life will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, Thursday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m., followed by visitation until 9 p.m. Transfer will be made to Miller Funeral Home, Caledonia, where visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 9, from Noon to 2 p.m., followed by the interment at Caledonia Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
