Kincardine Terry Fox Run to be a virtual event again, due to COVID-19

August 18, 2021

The Kincardine Terry Fox Run is set for Sept. 19 and will be virtual again, due to the continuing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

The event will use the slogan, “One day. Your way,” and participants from all over Ontario and Canada will be running, walking or cycling to raise money for the Terry Fox Foundation. Each participant decides his own route, the time to start and how far to go.

Last year, Kincardine raised more than $12,000, and the organizing committee hopes to reach that amount again.

New this year, is a QR code on each of the posters you see downtown. By scanning the QR code, you can donate directly to Kincardine’s Terry Fox Run.

Follow the Kincardine Terry Fox Run on Facebook, on Instagram @KincardineTerryFox or on Twitter @KincardineFox.

Watch the Facebook posts for the beginning of the photo draw. Send in a photo of yourself in your Terry Fox shirt or just your Terry Fox shirt in a Kincardine location, to kincardineterryfoxrun@gmail.com. The name of everyone who submits a photo will be entered in a draw. The prize is $50 BIA bucks, generously donated by Lighthouse Chiropractic.

The T-shirt for 2021 is a bright colour and celebrates Terry’s heritage traced to his maternal grandmother, with the design including traditional Metis floral beading. A full description is included in the purchase of the shirt. Terry Fox T-shirts can be ordered on-line at terryfox.org/.

Members of the Kincardine Terry Fox Run committee include Margaret Visser, Holly McAdam, Mike Dupuis, Melanie Milne, Mihaela Morariu and Colleen Gillis.

To register to participate in this event, or for more information, check the website at terryfox.org/.
