Ripley Wolves sweep Shelburne, advance to WOAA Senior "A" finals

March 8, 2016

The Ripley Wolves completed their sweep of Shelburne, downing the Muskies, 6-4, Friday, and 3-2, Saturday, to take the semi-final series and advance to the WOAA Senior "A" finals against either Tillsonburg or Milverton.

Friday night at the Ripley Arena, the Wolves opened the scoring midway in the first, when Paul Stewart scored from Jeremy McQuillin and Brian Stanley.

Minutes later, Shelburne tied it up, and then within minutes of the second period, the Muskies took a two-goal lead to make it a 3-1 game.

Late in the second, Ripley's Cody Britton scored on the powerplay, from Paul Stewart and Brett Catto, to make it 3-2 going into the third.

Brett Catto tied it at 3-3 early in the third, scoring on the powerplay from Dustin Catto and Ryan Dudgeon. Seconds later, Brett Catto added another powerplay marker, from Stewart and Britton, to give the Wolves the lead.

But that didn't last long, as Shelburne tied it at 4-4 a minute later.

The Wolves then shut down the Muskies' offence, and fired in two more goals to take the 6-4 win. Tyler DeVos scored from Alex MacLeod; and Drew Davidson had an empty-netter, from Brett Catto and Stewart.

No details are yet available from Saturday night's game.
