Almost 100 water services have been frozen this winter in the Municipality of Kincardine because of the extremely cold weather.
With public works crews working diligently to restore these services, the municipality is offering bottled water to the affected residents, says chief administrative officer Murray Clarke.
"They have been advised to go to the Kincardine Fire Station (127 Mahood-Johnston Dr.) between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, to pick up vouchers to obtain cases of bottled water from Sobeys or No Frills in Kincardine," says Clarke. "At this time, we are supplying up to seven cases of bottled water (24 bottles/case) per household."
In addition, those affected can go to the Davidson Centre and use the shower facilities, if required, says Clarke.
The public works crews are putting in a tremendous effort, dealing with the number of frozen water services, he says. "It's a bigger problem this winter than last winter."
Clarke says the 2016 budget will contain a capital project to deal with the shallow water services which are being affected by winter's deep freeze.
