Coach Angela Taylor said this was the most track and field athletes she has ever taken to the provincial games, and she was proud of their success.

She and fellow coach, Shawna Ford, presented "medals" to their fellow coaches, Jennifer McCullough and Rosie Laidler.

The gold-medal finishes qualify these athletes to go on to the national summer games next year if they are selected to join Team Ontario.

Also, in Kincardine Special Olympics news, Robert McCourt of the Power Workers' Union (PWU) Bruce Site Equity Committee, was on hand during track practice Tuesday night, to present a cheque for $1,000. These funds will be used to off-set the costs to Special Olympics athletes in their sports of choice, such as curling, bowling and bocce.

The PWU Bruce Site Equity Committee has been in place since early 2006 and its purpose is to make cash disbursement of Bruce Site equity funds to community organizations and local causes. The committee makes these disbursements on behalf of the 2,600 PWU members who work for Bruce Power, and is pleased to be able to assist the local community with enhancing programs and events.
