Tiverton Park Manor hosts Christmas bazaar; and Tiverton news

By: Karen Ballok
December 2, 2017

Tiverton Park Manor hosted its annual Christmas bazaar, Saturday, Nov. 25, with a great turn-out.

There were 25 vendors, offering everything from baked goods and preserves, to homemade jewellery and tin-man ornaments. To view photographs from the event, see the Photo Gallery below.

Patti Hutton of Tiverton sent me this E-mail about her nephew, Bill E. Hutton, and it seems like a great story to share in the Tiverton news. If you want more information, I’m sure she would be more than willing to share it; she can be reached at 519 368-9709.

"Inspired by his early life growing up on a family farm in Tiverton, a local farm boy has written a children's book, 'Hay Day.' It’s a fun and engaging tale highlighting the importance of hard work and determination. Tater, a small and tough tractor, takes centre stage to showcase his enthusiasm and teach us about the process of baling hay. Faced with adversity, Tater is able to persevere and get the job done.

"The author, Bill E. Hutton, spent most of his impressionable years living on a 100-acre farm (on Bruce County Road 20, west of Highway 21) north of Tiverton, a small farming community near the shores of Lake Huron in southwestern Ontario. Farm life was the the backdrop for many of Bill’s fondest childhood memories. An early love for literature was rekindled following the arrival of his two children.

"Now an active father, husband, sportsman, and business professional, Bill invites children of all ages and walks of life to laugh and learn through 'The Family Farm Series,' a collection of lively-illustrated storybooks that entertain and engage on each and every page. The illustrations in the book are very true to the farm he was raised on here."

Rev. David Chang and his wife, Yoomi, and daughter Rilee, invite everyone to a Christmas Meet and Greet in the church's activity room, Saturday, Dec. 9, from 2-4 p.m.
White Gift Sunday will be held Dec. 10 .
If you like Christmas music, come to the Christmas Music Mini Concert, Friday, Dec. 15, at 6:30 p.m. Admission is by donation with all money going to the Knox Church Youth Group.

The Tiverton Lions held their annual Seniors Christmas Dinner, Friday night, at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre in Tiverton, and it was another great success. Each year they invite seniors, 65 years and older, living in Tiverton, Glammis, Inverhuron and as far as North Bruce, to enjoy a wonderful turkey dinner with all the fixings. Edna McTeer is the event chairperson and Brent Crawford was the MC. After a tasty turkey dinner and pie, the crowd was entertained by the musical talent of John Leader. Jacqueline Pinkerton treated everyone to a piece of Christmas chocolate and Ruby MacLennan made some great door prizes. A big thanks to all the Lions and volunteers who made this another great event.
The residents of Tiverton Park Manor thank the Lions for the invitation to the Christmas dinner, and to Saugeen Mobility and Ross Young Bus Lines which were there to ferry residents to and from the Whitney Crawford Community Centre. The residents always look forward to this event.
