Breakers make a splash at Trojan Cup Invitational in Barrie

The Breakers Swim Team made a big splash, attending the 2017 Trojan Cup Invitational swim meet in Barrie, Dec. 1-3.

With eight teams attending from across the province, the Breakers proved how mighty they are against much-larger teams, such as Barrie, Orangeville, and Wilmot. With only 10 senior swimmers, the Breakers managed to finish the meet in fifth place, beating out Nickel City Aquatics (Sudbury), the Orangeville Otters, and Base Borden Barracudas Swim Club.

Sydney Beauregard ended the meet with four top-eight finishes in her seven events. She also achieved personal best times in her 50m Free, 200m Back and 200m Free.

Connor Drope had two top-eight finishes in his four events. He also achieved personal best times in all four of his races, including an amazing drop of 25 seconds in his 200m Back and 19 seconds in his 100m Breast.

Liam Fitzgerald had top-eight finishes in all of his events, including 3rd in 50m Free, 3rd in 1500m Free, 3rd in 100m Free, as well as achieving personal best times in five of his seven swims.

Jayson Horseman had top-eight finishes in five events, including 2nd in 50m Free, 3rd in 200m Free, as well as achieving personal best times in five of his seven swims.

Hannah Kent had three top-10 placements and achieved personal best times in her 50m Free, 100m Breast, 200m IM, 100m Back and 400m Free.

Cameron McEwen had three top-eight finishes in his events, including 4th in his 100m Free.

Zachary McEwen finished in the top five in all seven of his events, including 1st in 100m Back, 2nd in 100m Free, 2nd in 400m Free, 3rd in 200m IM, 3rd in 100m Breast, and 3rd in 50m Free. Overall, he also achieved five new personal best times.

Brady Phillips had a great meet, achieving four new personal best times, including dropping more than five seconds in his 200m Back and 200m Free, and dropping over eight seconds in his 200m Breast.

Rebecca Schropp had top-eight finishes in six of her seven events, including 3rd in her 800m Free, 3rd in her 100m Fly, 3rd in her 200m Back, 3rd in her 200m Fly, as well as achieving four personal best times.

Madison Wheeler swam an amazing 200m Breast stroke cutting off almost 15 seconds for a new personal best time. In addition she had personal best times in her 100m Breast and 200m IM.

The junior swimmers competed Dec. 2, only, but had a great day.

Abhinav Shankar had two top-eight finishes in his four swims and achieved new personal best times in his 50m Back, 100m Breast, and his 100m IM.

Sharvani Shankar had a top-eight finish in her 100m Breast which included a new personal best time.
