Students in Kincardine area get first snow day of 2018

By: Liz Dadson
January 8, 2018

The snowstorm of 2018 continued Sunday with more snow, high wind, and freezing rain in the Kincardine area.

This resulted in hazardous road conditions Monday morning, giving students their first snow day of the year, and an extension to their Christmas holidays. All school buses were cancelled to Kincardine elementary schools and Kincardine District Secondary School, as well as to schools in Ripley and Lucknow.

There was so much snowfall Sunday night, that snowplow crews had difficulty keeping up with it. They no sooner had roadways and streets cleared, that the wind blew drifts across them again.

The one bright spot in all this snowy weather, is that temperatures have warmed up.

The area is expected to have a reprieve from the cold and snow until Thursday when it's back to the blustery winter conditions for the weekend.
