The Breakers Swim Team participated in its first Long-Course Swim Meet of the season at the Victor Davis Invitational in Guelph, Jan. 20-21.

The team had a great meet with every swimmer achieving best times in almost all their events. In total, the 11 Breakers swimmers took a whopping seven minutes and 47 seconds off their existing times.

Braeden Ashton, 17, broke two Breakers Club records during the weekend, including his own 50-metre Breaststroke record with a new time of 33.59 seconds. He also tied the 50-metre Free record with a time of 26.06 seconds.

Kenzie Bourassa, 10, one of the youngest Breakers on the team, attended her first long-course meet and set personal best times in all her events.

Some Breakers swimmers shaved off significant time on their 400-metre Free. Ashton took off 42.38 seconds, while Jayson Horseman, 15, dropped a total of one minute and 5.13 seconds, Cameron McEwen, 17, dropped a total of 23.11 seconds, and Zachary McEwen, 15, shaved a full 55.87 seconds.

Ryan Morley, 13, also had a great meet by improving his 50-metre Breaststroke by three seconds, his 50-metre Back and 100-metre Breast by six seconds apiece. Morley also took 17 seconds off his 50-metre Free, 16 seconds off his 100-metre Free, and 50 seconds off his 200-metre Free.

Brady Phillips, 13, Hannah Kent, 13, Carlin Reid, 18, Madison Wheeler, 16, and Liam Fitzgerald, 15, all had best times in several events.

The Breakers will be participating in the Huronia Regional Short-Course Championships, Feb. 2-4, in Bracebridge. Go Breakers Go!
