GEORGE EDWARD HARRON

George Edward Harron, formerly of Kincardine, died peacefully at Woodstock General Hospital, Dec. 21, 2021, three days short of his 97th birthday. Survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Ethel (Hume), whom he met while teaching in Arkel. Dear father of Marlene (Frank) Thompson, Bruce (Judy), Brian (Christine Hansvick), Rod (Chris). Cherished grandfather of nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, John and Ada (Cruickshank) Harron; infant daughter, Shirley; brothers, Gerald, Emerson, and Lorne; and sisters, Sadie Hollands and Wyn Fraser. Born and raised near Tara, George was a teacher and principal in the elementary system in Arkel, Milverton, Langton, Tillsonburg and at College Avenue Secondary School in Woodstock. During his working career, he belonged to the Boy Scouts and the Lions Club in Langton, and was on the session of Knox Presbyterian Church, Woodstock. In Kincardine, he joined the choir of Knox Presbyterian Church, and belonged to the Probus Club. He loved woodworking and making Christmas ornaments. George and Ethel retired to Kincardine in 1983. They also spent 16 years living in Florida during the winter and made many friends there. They returned to Woodstock in 2014. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Final resting place, Kincardine Cemetery.
