JOSEPH "JOE" HARRON

January 16, 2023

Joseph “Joe” Harron of Kincardine died Jan. 16, 2023. He was 75. He was a kind and generous soul who cared deeply for the well-being of others. In life, he lifted the spirits and circumstances of those close to him, and around the world. If Joe could help, he never hesitated. He rose to any challenge, and shared his good fortune with those in need - friends, family and strangers, alike. A quiet and compassionate man, he reflected the best of us in living for others. As a professional engineer, he dedicated his life to public service. In the commissioning and operation of power plants in Canada and abroad, he made sure that the lights were always on, so that no one would ever want for comfort and warmth. Joe was always the smartest man in the room and it wasn't long before he let you know it. His bright mind was full of wit and humour, and he never ceased to share his mirth and easy laughter, bringing light in both the best and worst of times. He made friends wherever he went. From humble beginnings in an Irish family of 13 brothers and sisters, he travelled the globe, revelling in the diversity and beauty of the world. Although later in life his struggles with health limited his ability to be present in the wider world, he continued to find joy in the company of family and friends. We wish that more people could have known the private man. His quiet and gentle nature belied the thoughtful and compassionate way he related to the wonder of living. He had a thirst for knowledge and experience, and he engaged deeply with the mystery. He worked with his hands. He roamed far. He lived his life always by the shore and sailed upon the face of deep water. His passing has left a gap in so many lives, one that is profoundly full of the fond memories he gifted us with. He lives within all of us. Rest in peace, Joe. You are keenly missed. With love.
