Legion District C track and field meet held in Kincardine
The Kincardine Legion hosted the District C Crystal Taylor Memorial Track and Field Meet at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, June 15.
More than 220 athletes, aged 12-17, from more than 50 regional Legion branches competed in running races, high jump, running long jump, triple jump, hurdles, shot put, discus, javelin, hammer throw and steeplechase.
Several Kincardine athletes hit gold, including Adalee Turland, U16 shot put and discus; Michalina Wilkiewicz, U16 100-metre; Leah O’Handley, U14 high jump; and Evie Turland, U14 shot put.
Adalee Turland set a meet record for U16 3K shot put with a throw of 12.07 metres.

Winners from the District C meet advanced to the provincial competition which was held July 12-13 at York University. Kincardine’s Adalee Turland won silver there, in shot put and discus.
