Kincardine Under Armour flag football skills camp draws about 120 youth
Kincardine’s Under Armour Flag Football Skills and Drills Camp drew about 120 youth to the main field at the Davidson Centre, Monday afternoon.
Operated by Under Armour Rise Flag Football Canada, the camp offered drills in flagging, routes, throwing/catching, and footwork.
There were two clinics, with the first one for Under-8 (U8) to U12 players, and the second one for U14 to U18 players. About 90 youth turned out for the first clinic, with another 30 attending the second clinic.
Head coach Thalia Wright of Under Armour led the warm-up which was welcome as Monday brought cool, windy weather.
The youth were then split into smaller groups to focus on various skills, with others assisting, including Jonathan Nedeljkovic and Brendan Kushnir, also of Under Armour, and local coaches Aaron Klassen, Otis Dolan, Cooper Waite, Dan Ogilvie, Elliott Montag and Josh Bragg.
Organizer Watson Morris was pleased with the turn-out and said the Kincardine Football Association has several young parents of these youth who are interested in coaching flag football for the long-term.
The goal is to have the non-contact football program in place by next spring, possibly Friday nights, at the Davidson Centre field, followed by the development of a tackle football team at Kincardine District Senior School by the fall of 2025.

On another note, someone participating in the U8 to U12 clinic, left behind a pair of sunglasses. They can be picked up at the KDSS office.
