Highland Drive Family and Friends event nets $200 for Good Food Box program

September 29, 2024

If you were anywhere in the region of Huron-Kinloss, July 27, you would have been tantalized by an irresistibly-appetizing aroma wafting through the area.

And if you had let your nose lead you, you would, undoubtedly, have been made welcome at the third annual Highland Drive Family and Friends Potluck and Pig Roast, magnificently hosted this year by Becky Grieveson and James Turland.

The potluck offerings were delicious and plentiful, the efficient hosts had arranged shelter and plumbing, and even the pig had a smile on its face.

When all was done and dusted and the bills paid, the hosts consulted Telsa O’Connell who had instigated this feast pre-COVID, and asked where she would like the resulting excess funds to be used – each attendee had made a monetary contribution as well as bringing a potluck dish.

Telsa is a faithful supporter of the Kincardine Area Good Food Box program that supplies a monthly bin of produce for $22 for those in the community who can pay, and free of charge through its Neighbour-to-Neighbour Initiative for those who would benefit from food support.

So, Sept. 26., Becky, James and Telsa attended the Good Food Box distribution in order to present $200 to one of the program’s co-ordinators, Wendy Cox.
