POLICE INVESTIGATING BREAK-AND-ENTER

(BRUCE TWP, ON) – Jan. 17, at 7:08 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received a report of a break-in at a farm property in the 1700 block of Bruce-Saugeen line in Bruce Township.
Sometime between 4 p.m. Jan. 12, and 2:30 p.m. Jan. 17, three outbuildings on the property were forcibly entered. A list of stolen items is not available at this time. There is no estimate available on the cost of repairing the damage caused by the break-in.

POLICE INVESTIGATING BREAK-N

(CHESLEY, ON) – Jan. 14, at 12:01 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a break-in at the Parkview Manor located along 3rd Avenue Southwest in Chesley.
Employees found two men taking items from a freezer inside the building. When they were discovered, the men left with a quantity of frozen food that was recovered during the initial investigation. Both suspects are described as about 5’ tall and young.

Suspicious vehicles and suspicious people should be reported to police as soon as possible so they can be investigated.

POLICE RECEIVE REPORTS OF DRIVERS NOT STOPPING FOR SCHOOL BUS

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The South Bruce OPP has been receiving reports of drivers failing to stop for a loading/unloading school bus.
The areas of concern reported to police most recently are bus stops along Bruce County Road 20 and stops around the Village of Tiverton. The offence of failing to stop for a school bus carries a fine of $490 and six demerit points.

With full-day Kindergarten programs established in area schools, students as young as four years old can travel to and from school on a bus. These young students depend on adults to keep them safe. Failing to stop for a school bus carries a stiff penalty, but the consequences can be far greater if a small child is hit by a vehicle.

DRIVER CHARGED FOR TRAFFIC LIGHT VIOLATION

(WALKERTON, ON) – Jan. 16, at 6 p.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol in the Town of Walkerton, saw a red Chevrolet Uplander drive through the intersection of Yonge Street and McGivern Street against a red light.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 66-year-old Arran-Elderslie Township woman, was charged with fail to stop for red light.

The penalty for this offence is a $325 fine and three demerit points, but the consequences can be far worse if you become involved in a collision.

POLICE LOOKING FOR STOLEN SNOWMOBILE

(ELMWOOD, ON) – Jan. 18, at 9:17 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a theft from a residence along Queen Street West in Elmwood.
Sometime between 1 p.m. Jan. 17, and 9 a.m. Jan. 18, a black 2006 Ski-doo MXZ, Licence No. 966540, was taken. The value of the stolen snowmobile is estimated to be $4,000.

The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122.  Should you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or send a web-tip to crimestop-gb.org, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
