New playground at Lions Park in Point Clark officially opened
The new playground at Lions Park in Point Clark was officially opened Friday afternoon, with Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson on hand to do the ribbon-cutting.

Also on hand were members of the Huron Shores Lions Club and the Township of Huron-Kinloss.

All three groups had a part in this project, with the Lions Club providing $10,000; the township, $15,000; and an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant providing another $25,000.

Township community services director Mike Fair said he was approached by the Lions about upgrading the park, so with the funding available, the township was able to install new playground equipment as well as put a new steel roof on the Ripley Lions Club pavilion at the park. The project also included a barbecue beside the pavilion, and benches and fitness equipment beside the playground.

"This park is used for a lot of family picnics," said Fair. "With these upgrades, it's good for the next 20 years."

"What a beautiful park," said Thompson. "This is a great asset for the community. It's good to see this investment in Huron-Kinloss."
