Hello, Bonjour, Ni hao, Ola, Konnichi wa, Salam, Kumusta, Sat Shri Akal, Namaste!
The annual Multicultural Night, held Wednesday at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, was another success, drawing a great crowd to enjoy the vibrant entertainment and cross-cultural sharing from around the world. The organizers have received plenty of positive feedback from employees, local schools and residents. This event would have not been possible without the passion and support of the whole community.
The Multicultural evening seems to appeal to all age groups. People with infants, school-age children, teens and adults, as well as many seniors, attended, making this truly a community event.
The air was filled with the scents of Indian, Chinese, Nepalese, Pakistan, Filipino, Irish, Polish, French, English, Italian, Dutch, Israeli, Scottish, Ukrainian, San Marino, Argentinean, Nicaraguan, Salvadorian, Brazilian, and Kenyan food samples, along with marvellous displays of these countries' traditions and cultures.
Music from around the world was played for everyone to enjoy. This event offers a unique opportunity to educate the community on the importance and benefits of inclusiveness, diversity and awareness of multiculturalism.
This event was organized by the Kincardine Multicultural Celebration Committee, and was sponsored by Bruce Power, the Municipality of Kincardine and local schools. The members of the committee include Mary Senese (school teacher), Anne Roppel (local community member), Karen Smith and Chandra Tripathi (Bruce Power) and Steven Travale (Sacred Heart High School), and Virat Krishna Tripathi (Kincardine District Secondary School).
