Mark Trevor Yalden died suddenly, Friday, Nov. 24, 2023, at his home in Kincardine. He was 51. Lovingly remembered by his mother, Shiela; his four siblings, Ruth (Jim Thorpe), David, Neil (Darla) and Hugh (Simona). He loved, and was dearly loved by, his nieces, Alice, Lucy, Evah, Shae, and Alexandra. The Sorley cousins, Andrew (Janet), Alison and John, as well as cousin, Wayne King, and aunt, Susie Gubala, all mourn the loss of Mark. Also dearly remembered by Alexis Gallant; his in-laws, Mike and Laurie Gallant; Erin (Rob Young), Kyle (Lisa), and more nieces and nephews, Emma, Alexa, Maddy, Hannah, Evan and Myles. He was predeceased by his father, David Stanley Yalden, in 2022. Mark was born June 4, 1972, the youngest of five children and would proudly proclaim to his siblings that he was the only one born in Kincardine. He was raised in Huron Ridge where he enjoyed playing road hockey with the local kids, tobogganing on the golf course, and long summer days at the beach. Later in life, he would seek the same lifestyle for himself by purchasing a home just north of the Ridge, next to another beach, his one truly happy place. Mark attended post-secondary education at Fanshawe College where he graduated from the Robotics and Process Control program. Following his graduation, he worked for a short period of time at Presto-Crest apparel manufacturing, before starting a career as an electrical project technician at Bruce Power. He had a passion for all things Kincardine and volunteered at several local charities. After a disastrous fire in 1995, he volunteered with the Paddy Walker Heritage Society, working countless hours to assist with extensive repairs and restoration of the historic Walker House. In 2008, he gave his personal time as a member of the Old Boys and Girls Reunion Committee, and the following years, continued with his passion for volunteer work by assisting the Kincardine Trails Association. He enjoyed golfing with friends, as well as attending the occasional PGA tour. Like his dad, he was a true lover of Airedales. He loved to walk his dogs, and go paddle-boarding, was a cycling enthusiast, and enjoyed watching sunsets on summer evenings. Mark’s greatest attributes were his kindness, unfailing generosity, and willingness to help all he met. To honour Mark’s passing, there will be a Celebration of Life, Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, from 2-5 pm. at the Royal Canadian Legion, MacDonald Branch 183, 219 Lambton Street, Kincardine. The Yalden family and Alexis would like to give special thanks to Dr. Gary Gurbin and staff for Mark’s continued care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his honour may be made to the Paddy Walker Heritage Society or the Kincardine Trails Association.
