DANIEL "DANNY" O'KANE

Daniel “Danny” O’Kane, 76, of Reading, Michigan, formerly of Tiverton, Ontario, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, at his home. Born Dec. 5, 1947, in Kilrea, Northern Ireland, he was the son of William and Sara (Gribbon) O’Kane. He married Linda (Lewandowski) Mysko, May 6, 2005. Danny was a long-time resident of Tiverton. He was a volunteer Tiverton firefighter and minor hockey referee, and worked as an electrician at Bruce Power. He was a former journeyman electrician for the IBEW Local 8 in Toledo, Ohio. In his free time, Danny had several hobbies. He enjoyed golfing at Bella Vista in Coldwater, shooting billiards, and in his younger years, playing Gaelic Football. He also had a passion for singing, particularly his rendition of “Danny Boy.” In addition, he enjoyed cutting wood, which he supplied to the local Amish communities and their schools. Besides his wife, Linda, he is survived by two sons, Brendan O’Kane of Calgary, Alberta; and Timothy O’Kane of British Columbia; stepson, Brian (Cori Dubendorfer) Mysko of Toledo, Ohio; grandchildren, Emma, Brison and Brodie Mysko; and siblings, Kathleen (Gerald) Hutchinson of Tottenham, Ontario; Moira (John) Molony of County Limerick, Ireland; Eilish (William) Boston of Palgrave, Ontario; Liam (Barbara) O’Kane of Newcastle, Ontario; and Richard (Tracey) O’Kane of County Clare, Ireland. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Philamena O’Kane-Oliver; and a brother in infancy, Patrick O’Kane. Visitation was held Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, from 5-8 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home - George White Chapel in Reading, Michigan. A memorial mass was held Tuesday. Jan. 9, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hillsdale, Michigan, with Father David Reamsnyder officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice of Jackson, Michigan; or St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Hillsdale, Michigan.
