Dolores “Dee Dee” Labonte (nee Perry), formerly of Tiverton, died Jan. 24, 2024, at Southampton Hospital, at the age of 75. She was born in St. Louis, Prince Edward Island, Feb. 4, 1948. Loving mother of Susan Fitzsimmons (Brad), Ken Smith (Sandi), and daughter-in-law, Cathy Smith. Special friend of Steve Leturneau. Cherished grandma of Nathan (Alison), Morgan (Ben), Kyla (Bellah), Christina (Jesie), Caitlyn (Rob) and Carly (Mark). Loved and adored by her great-grandchildren Blake, Archer, Rozlyn, Harleigh and Henry. Fondly remembered in Prince Edward Island, by her brothers, George (Eileen), Leo (Marie), Joe, Wilfred (Cathy), and Bernie (Kelly); and sister, Francis (Chris). Predeceased by her parents, Mildred and Alfred Perry of Prince Edward Island; son, Chris Smith; husband, Roland Labonte; and her baby sister, Leona Perry. Dee Dee was an avid gardener, who took great pride in her flower gardens. She was always on the go, and her family often called her the “energizer bunny.” She was a hard worker and spent many years working in the hospitality and retail industry. A popular and dedicated employee, she worked many years at both the Kwik Way in Tiverton and Sutton Park Inn in Kincardine. Dee Dee loved to socialize; she was a people person. Along her journey, she touched the lives of many and will be remembered in the hearts of all who knew her. Family members thank the staff at Elgin Lodge in Port Elgin for the compassionate care of their mother during her time there. Cremation has taken place. Interment, Tiverton Cemetery, at a later date.
