David Lapsley of Owen Sound, formerly of Kitchener, dear husband, father and only son, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends, Feb. 7, 2024, in his 54th year, after a five-year journey with cancer. He travelled the road with tremendous courage, strength and humour right to the end of a life taken much too soon. Former employee of Babcock Wilcox. David loved his music, hobbies, and sitting at a campfire. He was not one to shy away from a good argument. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his 'northern' buddies.’ Left to mourn are his devoted wife, Helen (Karageorgos); much loved and precious daughter, Dana (Ryan); beloved parents, Bert and Heather of Kincardine; and his furry campfire buddy, Winston. Also survived by his aunt, Anne Shantz and family of Kitchener; mother-in-law, Niki Karageorgos of Kitchener; brothers-in-law Jim (Tracy) and family of Ayr and Angelo of Kitchener. Predeceased by his grandparents, Robert and Elisabeth Lapsley and Graden and Marie Fairbrother; uncle, Bruce Fairbrother; and father-in-law, Nick Karageorgos. Our hearts break for a vibrant life taken too soon with so many milestones missed and adventures left to explore. Forever in our thoughts and hearts. Rest in peace, dear David. Special thanks to Dr. Aboo, Dr. Fenn, oncology nurses, and Karen, his care nurse, for their compassion and excellent care during David's journey. As per David's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. If you wish, donations may be made to Chapman House Hospice or the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation (c/o Oncology); arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services; www.greybrucecremation.com. |
