Bruce Marvin Long of Kincardine, died at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton, Sunday, March 24, 2024, in his 82nd year. Born in Fort Erie, Dec. 21, 1942, he was the son of the late Robert and Lorna Long. Best friend and husband of Linda. Loving father of Matthew, and Kristi Van Rooyen and her husband, Francis. Doting grandfather of Amanda and Amy; and great-grandfather of Peyton and William. Bruce is also survived by his sister, Gail Craig of Welland; and brother-in-law, Larry Jackson and his wife, Gillain, of Fort Erie. Uncle Bruce is fondly remembered by his niece and nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents, and his brothers-in-law, Keith Craig and Lennie Jackson. Bruce trained as a machinist and moved to Kincardine to work at Ontario Hydro, first as a mechanical maintainer and then, as a mechanical assessor. He retired in 2006. Special thanks to the staff at Brucelea Haven, third floor west, for the loving care provided to Bruce ("Papa") over the past three-and-a-half years. Bruce's family also thanks the compassionate second-floor nursing staff and doctors at Walkerton hospital who provided exemplary care in the days leading up to his passing. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life is planned for April 6, 2024, at 1 p.m., at Lighthouse Fellowship Baptist Church, Kincardine, with Pastor Steve Gordon presiding.
