Born in St. Thomas, Feb. 11, 1960, he was the son of Gwendolyn and Bruce Newman, and lived his childhood in West Lorne. Also known as Papa or Hippy, he loved to spend his time outdoors. If he wasn't fishing or camping on the island, he was spending his time in the garden or having beers with his friends. Wayne was well-known for being a mechanic at Kin-Farm Tire in Bervie for almost 23 years where they treated him like family. Survived by his daughters, Tasha Newman, and Corey Bradley (Lucas); grandchildren, Jaxon and Mackenzi Bradley; his mother, Gwendolyn Newman Szabo; and brothers, Rob Newman (Janice), and Micheal Newman (Carol); as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father, Bruce Newman; and brother, Dave Newman (Beverly). A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Ripley (18 Jessie St.), Sunday, April 21, from 1-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Wayne's grandchildren meant the world to him so the family would appreciate donations to a trust account for their education.
