Douglas Nelson Raynard died peacefully in his sleep, at Barnswallow Long-Term Care Facility in Elmira, Friday, April 19, 2024, in his 88th year. He was born outside of Lucknow, May 22, 1936, and farmed for many years in Ashfield Township. Beloved husband of Mary Lou Raynard (McAllister) for almost 59 years. Father of Diane of London, Debbie and Peter of Barrie, and Donna and Cory of Kitchener. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Tyler of Kitchener; brother Chris of Goderich; sister-in-law, Norma of Lucknow; and brother-in-law Bill of West Wawanosh. Predeceased by his parents, Clara (Ritchie) and Nelson Raynard; siblings, Dorothy and Donald Murray, Lillian and Russel Irvin, Ruth and Fred Shropshall, and Bruce Raynard; and his sister-in-law, Patricia Raynard. Doug loved his life farming. He then transitioned into the restaurant and catering business, working alongside Mary Lou. Upon retirement, they moved to Listowel, remaining active in the community and church. He was always up for a game of cards, and a Sunday drive to check out the crops and the drive usually ended up dropping in to see family or friends. He was devoted to his family and the community, always willing to give a helping hand, where needed. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, followed by the funeral at 1:30 p.m., and lunch at the Lucknow Legion.
