Beloved husband of Eleanor Campbell (née Walsh) and the late Gay Rutledge (née Middelkamp). Loving father of Ken Rutledge (Deb), Carol Kroetsch (Paul), Karen Hofstetter, and Mike Rutledge (Terri). Stepfather of Kent Campbell (Jodi) and Jill Brewer (David). Proud Papa of Jessica Burrows (Dale), Travis Rutledge, Chad Lowry (Sarah), Jenna Lowry (Spencer Freer), Mackenzie Hofstetter, Madison Hofstetter (Jaden Harron), Richard Ross and Shane Ross, Allison Brewer and Lauren Brewer; and great-grandchildren, Alecsys Burrows, Cooper Rutledge, Zoey Freer, Keyarra Ross and Jayden Ross. Dear brother-in-law of Marlene Walsh, Marian Glen (Greg Nicholson), Renske Daer (Ed), Bouwina Pigeon, Kini Meyer (John), Marjorie Middelkamp, Jake Middelkamp (Margo), Ria Middelkamp, Harlene Middelkamp and Henry Middelkamp (Mary). Fondly remembered by a large and extended family, as well as many friends and neighbours. Predeceased by his parents, George and Francis Rutledge; and brother, Robert (Gloria) Rutledge. Allan was raised outside Kincardine on Highway 9, and although he left for a brief time, thinking he would train to be a mechanic, he returned to what he loved most: family and farming. He was hard-working and never walked away from what needed to be done. He possessed a great sense of humour, sociability, intelligence and a twinkle in his eye. He loved to travel, dance, and spend time with others. Allan has left his family and friends with many great memories, to comfort them. He will be missed. Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home (757 Princes Street, Kincardine), Tuesday, July 2, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., where the funeral will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Gord Dunbar officiating. Interment, Kincardine Cemetery, following the reception at the funeral home. Memorial donations to the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation, the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
