Dora VanDyke of Lucknow, died peacefully, at the Wingham and District Hospital, July 4, 2024, with her family by her side. She was 91. Born April 21, 1933, in Gemert, Netherlands, she was the daughter of Peter and Nolda Slits. Beloved wife of the late Bill VanDyke (2002) for 44 years. Loving mother of Henry and Pam of Lucknow, Nora and Ed Verkley of Atwood, Peter and Lisa of Point Clark and Tony and Laurie of Lucknow. Proud grandma of Chris (Judy), Jayme (Joel) Eadie, Nicole (Matt) Henhoeffer, Adam Verkley (Krista), Steven Verkley (Melissa), Mark Verkley (Kaitlyn), Ben Verkley (Shannon), Darren, Justin (Leah), Tyler (Dayna), Luke (Brianna), and Mitch (Nicole). Special great-grandma/Oma of Charlie, Max, Cooper, Griffin, Macy, Luke, Jocelyn, Brayden, Marley, Carson, Cole, Hallie and Layton. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and her friends at Ostbeck Manor and Sepoy Manor who have been such a great support system to her. Dora was predeceased by her siblings, Martin, Antone, Harrie, Bertus, Cato, Pieter, Jan, Drea, Anna and Anton, all of the Netherlands. Visitation will be held at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, Monday July 8, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a private funeral service.
