Mark Hammond of Kincardine died July 5, 2024, at the age of 71. If our family could describe the definition of a warrior, the name Mark Hammond would be front and centre. After a long illness, Mark has taken another path ... but in that, he leaves behind a memory of a life as a genuine, real person. Mark was a master at listening to your story, no matter what the topic. He really cared about what you had to say with a ton of understanding and empathy for whatever was on your mind. His ability to slow down and process life's most difficult twists and turns was nothing short of amazing. His incredible sense of humour and optimism about everything, was just outstanding. Career-wise, Mark found his work always to be interesting and challenging. He started his career with Ontario Hydro construction in the late 1970s as an apprentice electrician. In 1980, he went to operations and took training in Deep River until August, 1981, then was stationed at Douglas Point generating station. When Douglas Point closed, he went to central maintenance on shift, then portable rad instruments. This evolved with Mark going to Bruce B and the valve crew, where he became an expert. He used his skills to assess work and became a team leader. Most of all, Mark, you were the complete package of a life partner, a wonderful father to Andrew and Colin, a wonderful grandpa to Quinton and Teo. You will be fondly remembered and missed by Janice, Andrew, Colin, Rayna, Quinton and Teo, Elizabeth, Barrie, Sarah, Linda, Tracy, Jay, John and Donna, Aaron and Cathy, and many trusted friends. A private family graveside service will take place at Southampton Cemetery, with a Celebration of Mark’s life taking place in the early fall. Details will be published when finalized. Memorial donations to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy; arrangements entrusted to the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine; www.daveylinklaterfuneralhome.com. |
