HELEN McKENZIE

Helen McKenzie of Kincardine, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, died peacefully, at Huron Shores Hospice, Aug. 11, 2024, at the age of 89. Her life was a testament to love and kindness, and she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Helen is survived by her beloved family, who find comfort in the many beautiful moments they shared with her. She will be deeply missed by her children, Barry, Brian (Claire), and Megan (Maurice); her grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah), Carissa, Dayn and Lily; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Willow and Malcolm; and her partner, Glenn, and family. Also survived by brothers-in-law, Neil and Donnie; sister-in-law, Cheryl; and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Donald (2010); infant daughter, Mary (1957); parents, Robert Smith and Willa Graham; brother, Graham; sisters-in-law, Lillian, Grace, and Dorothy; and brother-in-law, Roxy. Helen was known for her unwavering warmth and generosity. She devoted her life to her family, and her love for them was evident in everything she did. Her home was a haven of comfort and joy, filled with laughter, piano music, and the aroma of her delicious cookies. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel special, and her caring nature extended beyond her family to her wide circle of friends. Helen’s legacy lives on through the countless memories she created with those she loved. She found true happiness in spending time with her family and friends, and her presence will be remembered with gratitude, and her smile. Her spirit and love will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the privilege of knowing her. Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, Friday, Aug. 16, 2024, from Noon to 1:30 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2 p.m., with Rev. Rick Warne officiating. Final resting place, Kincardine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Huron Shores Hospice, Knox Presbyterian Church in Tiverton, or the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation.
