MARGARET MARY "MAGGIE" WEVER

September 1, 2024

Margaret Mary “Maggie” Wever of Kincardine died Sept. 1, 2024, at the age of 62. Born in Sarnia, June 9, 1962, she was one of 10 children born to Joe (Johannes N. Wever) and Trudy (Geertruida M. Damen-Wever). Maggie attended St. Patrick’s High School and then Sir Sandford Fleming College in Lindsay. After college, she was drawn to the great outdoors so she travelled to western Canada and tried her hand at various outdoor work adventures. She returned to Ontario for a short period of time and worked as a residential supervisor for developmentally-delayed adults at a group home in Arnprior. She felt compelled to return west and eventually settled down in Calgary where she worked at the Calgary Convention Centre and then, as a business analyst in the telecommunications industry, mainly for Telus. Maggie’s loves included her dogs and her flower gardens. Most mornings, she could be seen walking along the Bow River with her dogs, and a cup of coffee in her hand. Due to health issues that required family support, she was forced to return to Ontario in 2020. She was eventually admitted to Trillium Court long-term care in Kincardine. She received exceptional care, for which her family is extremely grateful, until her death. Maggie is survived by her siblings, Matt (Marcia) Wever, John Wever, Joe (Kathy) Wever, Mary Ann (David) Shaule, Mary Alice Wever, and Robert (Julianne) Wever; as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, and siblings, Jack (2021), Barry (2015) and Catherine (2001). The Wever family acknowledges Maggie’s wonderful college friend, Jayne Dougall-Bertling, who stepped in numerous times to assist Maggie when family was unable. In addition, special thanks to Maggie’s past Telus co-workers, Noelle and Ivy, who would send Maggie her favourite treats. Special consideration to Maggie’s neighbours on 10A Street, N.W., Calgary, who were like family to her. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, at Maggie’s beloved Kensington Pub, Calgary, Alberta. Memorial donations would be appreciated to any local Alzheimer’s Society, the Calgary Humane Society, or a charity of your choice; arrangements entrusted to the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine; www.daveylinklaterfuneralhome.com.
