LUCAS (LUKE) TIMOTHY JAMES BURKETT

September 16, 2024

Lucas (Luke) Timothy James Burkett, formerly of Kincardine, died Sept. 16, 2024, on Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.). He was 43. Growing up in Kincardine, Luke attended Huron Heights Public School and Kincardine District Secondary School, a time full of good times and good friends. Being in the school band and drama class were his favourites. Post-secondary, Luke found his niche at Miramichi College in New Brunswick where he was the proud recipient of the Principal’s Award of Excellence in Game Design, a career Luke had dreamed about since about the age of six. After almost two decades of working in the IT field, Luke knew he had to take on a new challenge. He found a brand new calling in being trained as an apprentice carpenter, understandably a huge change in careers. But with characteristic Luke-determination, he first completed a form work course last spring, and this summer, graduated from the intensive discovery carpentry course sponsored by the Construction Association of P.E.I., and from that, was working at an internship with a local contractor, C and P Construction. Luke absolutely loved his new career, regaling his family every day with tales of what he had learned and accomplished. He was happier at work than he’d been in years. He is survived by his parents, Kathie and Tim; his brother, Ryan, and sister-in-law, Kelli; his partner, Corinne, and her children, Fox and Phoenix; his nephews, Henry and Charlie; his aunts and uncles, Deb and Joe, and Kate and John; and his cousins; and his feline companion, Bravo. Luke’s extreme thoughtfulness, sense of humour and his giving nature were always on display in his relationships with all who know and love him. You will be forever in our hearts. Consider making a donation to a charity of your choice, in Luke’s memory. A celebration of Luke’s life, with family and friends, will be held at the Belvedere Funeral Home Reception Room, Charlottetown, P.E.I., Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, from 1-3 p.m. A few words will be spoken at 1:30 p.m., with light refreshments being served. On-line condolences may be shared on his obituary page at www.belvederefh.com.
