KENNETH "KEN" KING

September 28, 2024

Kenneth “Ken” King of Kincardine died peacefully, surrounded by his family, Sept. 28, 2024, at the age of 83. Ken was born June 16, 1941, and from a young age, he was destined for a life of purpose. At just 17, he made the brave decision to serve his country by joining the Canadian Navy. For 10 years, the sea was his world — a place where he honed his discipline, sense of duty, and his remarkable ability to stay calm and organized in any situation. These qualities stayed with him throughout his life. His life truly began to take shape when he met his beloved wife, Lise. At 23, he embarked on his greatest adventure — starting a family. Together, Ken and Lise began their lives in England before eventually settling in Kincardine. They raised two sons, Keith and Kevin, building a home filled with love, laughter, and the values Ken held dear. Ken dedicated many years to Ontario Hydro, a career that provided him with not only professional fulfillment but also opportunities for travel, growth, and exploration. His work took him and Lise to such places as South Korea and Deep River, but they eventually found their forever home in Kincardine, where they lived for more than 50 years. To Ken, home was always where his family was, and he made each new place feel like just that. His love for organizing and planning was evident in every aspect of his life. He was the one you could always count on to keep things running smoothly, whether at work, at home, or at the hockey rink, a sport he followed passionately. The outdoors and hunting were also close to his heart. He was never too busy to lend a hand or offer support, and his sense of responsibility and dedication to those around him, was unwavering. Ken’s family was the pride and joy of his life. He was a loving husband to Lise, a proud father to Keith and Kevin, and his daughters-in-law, Michelle and Jennifer, and a devoted grandfather to Max, Kelli, Jean-Luc, and Nicole. He was also blessed to meet his great-granddaughter, Ripley. His siblings — Orland, Murray, Marilyn, Doreen, Sharon, and Colleen — were never far from his thoughts and heart. Ken leaves behind a legacy of love, discipline, and generosity. He lived his life with warmth and kindness, always putting others before himself, and the impact of his actions and character will be felt for years to come. His death leaves an irreplaceable space in our hearts, but his memory will continue to inspire us all. As we say goodbye, we are comforted by the thought that Ken’s spirit lives on in the lives of those he touched. His was a life well-lived, and his memory will forever be a source of strength and joy for his family and friends. Rest in peace, Ken. You will be dearly missed. There will be a Celebration of Life, Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, from 2-5 p.m., at the Royal Canadian Legion, Kincardine. All are welcome. Final resting place, Kincardine Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Portrait and memorial on-line at www.daveylinklaterfuneralhome.com.
