Rose “Marion” Smith of Kincardine died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at Trillium Court Seniors’ Community. She was 92. Born in Campbellford, June 15, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William Craighead Wallace and Ester Elizabeth Wallace. Predeceased by her brothers, James, Grant and Reginald; and sister-in-law, Laura. Beloved wife of Edward Allan Smith for 73 years and loving mother of Heather (Doug) Gould, Susan (Pat) Hintz, Kevin (Nienke) Smith and Karen (Jeff) Lenjosek. Dearly missed by her 12 grandchildren, Alister Gould, Megan Reany, Ryan Hintz, Stephanie Hintz, Molly Smith, Ashley Hintz, Benjamin Smith, Cassandra Lenjosek, Cameron Hintz, Timothy Smith, Laura Lenjosek, and Michael Lenjosek; and seven great-grandchildren. Marion worked as a real estate agent in Belleville, where she was very active in her church, Eastminster United. This little farm girl met her husband, “Ted,” in Campbellford and followed him around the world, living in East Pakistan (Bangladesh), West Pakistan (Pakistan), Malaysia, and Egypt. They spent 20 years being snowbirds, wintering in Port Charlotte, Florida, while settling in Guelph during the rest of the year. In 2020, she moved to Kincardine with Ted to be closer to family. Marion was a wonderful soprano, singing one of the lead soloist roles in the “Messiah” for many years in Belleville. She also was a pianist, playing in the Maple Leaf Estate Keyboard Choir in Florida including a state presentation. Always very creative, she enjoyed her many hobbies of flower-arranging, beading, wire-wrapping, sewing and gardening, growing her skills through classes and meeting people throughout her travels. Marion was a loving, honest, capable and outgoing person who made friends wherever she went. As per Marion’s request, cremation has taken place. Interment will take place in the family plot at Burnbrae Presbyterian Church, near Campbellford, in the spring. The family extends sincere thanks to the staff of the long-term care facilities at Trillium Court in Kincardine for their kindness, care and support during her stay there.
