Valerie Rose Morningstar, beloved wife of Malcolm MacLeod of London, formerly of Lucknow, died at London University Hospital, Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, at the age of 72. Born Feb. 19, 1952, in Strathroy, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Velma Morningstar. Missed by her brothers, Wayne Morningstar of Jarvis, Glen (Shirley) Morningstar of Port Elgin, and Alvy Morningstar of Port Elgin. Also survived by her brother-in-law, John MacLeod (Sandy), sisters-in-law, Brenda Morrison (Ken), Bonnie McLeod (Andy), and Catherine MacLeod; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers, Blain and Dennis Morningstar. Valerie attended school in the area and at age 19, was chosen as Miss Southwestern Ontario and participated in the Miss Dominion of Canada Pageant in Niagara Falls. She went on to become a flight attendant and was able to travel and meet many famous and infamous people as well. She used to say, “Who would believe a little girl from Lucknow would see the Beatles live, dance with a prime minister and walk the Great Wall of China? She loved all her pets but especially her bull terriers - beauty is, obviously, in the eye of the beholder. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at the South Kinloss Cemetery, Lucknow, Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, at 2 p.m., followed by interment. A come-and-go celebration of Valerie’s life will be held the following Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, at 2 p.m., at the Lucknow Legion.
