DORA "MARIE" HALDENBY (nee BROOKS)

Dora "Marie" Haldenby of Lucknow, died peacefully, at University Hospital in London, Dec. 25, 2024, at the age of 75. Beloved wife of the late Barry Haldenby who predeceased her in 2021. Marie was born April 17, 1949, in Clinton, daughter of the late Omar and Dora Brooks. Loving mother of Allyson (Mike) Cowan, Jason (Kendra) Haldenby and Rob (Sherri) Haldenby, and an infant daughter who predeceased her. Proud grandmother of Erin Massey, Maghan Cowan, Destinee Shepherd, Daija, Devin, Delilah Haldenby, Trent and Maddy Haldenby; and great-grandmother of Ethan and Elyssa Massey, Reo Cowan, and Cooper Haldenby. Adoring sister of Wayne (Judy) Brooks of Waterloo; and sister-in-law of Sheila (Bob) Nethercott of Forest, and George (Cathy) Haldenby of Sarnia. Marie is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by her in-laws, Harold and Madeline Haldenby. Marie started a career in hairdressing but found her calling as a Health Care Aide. She provided compassion and care to many patients at Braemar Nursing Home in Wingham and Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home in Lucknow, until her retirement in 2014. She enjoyed summer vacations at the cottage with her family, making memories, spending time with her many friends and she was always up for an evening at bingo. Ever the social butterfly, Marie made an impact on all she met with her infectious laugh and warm smile. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity and greatly missed by all who knew her. Private arrangements are being made by the family, at Marie’s request.
