Gordon William “Gord” Dadson of Kincardine died April 28, 2025, at his residence, at the age of 85. Beloved husband of the late Shirley Dadson who predeceased him in 2002.Dear father of Gordon Dadson Jr. (who died in 2015), David (Liz) Dadson of Kincardine, and Shirley Ann Dadson of Kincardine; and grandfather of Rebecca, Geoffrey, Gregory, Tyler and Gordon John; as well as four great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brother, Donald (Marion) Dadson of Calgary, Alberta; sisters-in-law, Pat Schram, Betty Spriggs and Margaret Oatman; and many nephews and nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, neighbours and friends. Predeceased by his brother, John (Cathy) Dadson; and in-laws, Ilene (Wilfred) Bancroft, Ray Schram and Art Schram. Born in Port Stanley, July 14, 1939, Gord was the son of the late Charles and Jean (Stanley) Dadson. He worked for years at various jobs, including in a body shop, and as an upholstery worker, general labourer and maintenance worker. He also drove for Cox Cabs in St. Thomas. Gord married Shirley Schram, July 28, 1962, and they lived in St. Thomas until moving to Kinloss Township in March, 1976, and then to the Amberley Grain Elevator in March, 1977, where he and his family lived and where he worked for 26 years. He and Shirley enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Gord moved into Forbes Lambton Court, Kincardine, in 2016, and later to Cedar Grove Apartments, Kincardine, in 2020. He loved car-racing, watching NASCAR races on television and travelling to watch live races at Varney Motor Speedway, Delaware Raceway, and Sauble Speedway. He also enjoyed hockey, following the NHL, and volunteering with the Kincardine Bulldogs. This year, he was named volunteer of the year at the Bulldogs banquet in April. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 11, 2025, from 7-9 p.m., at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine; as well as Monday, May 12, 2025, at Noon, followed by the funeral at 1 p.m., with Rev. Dan West of Knox Presbyterian Church, Kincardine, officiating. A reception will be held at the Kincardine Legion, following the service. Interment, Kincardine Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, or the Kincardine Bulldogs Hockey Club, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
