JOHN WILLIAM WALSH

July 7, 2025

John William Walsh of Kincardine, beloved husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, and friend, died peacefully, July 7, 2025, in Cambridge, surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was 87. Born in Kincardine, Oct. 22, 1937, he was the son of of William (Bill) and Frances Walsh (nee Emmerton). Beloved husband of Carol; loving father of Todd, Susan, Steven, and daughter-in-law, Candace. Proud papa of William and Dylan. Special Dad W. of Bobbi. Survived by his sisters, Mary Ward and Ann Adams. As a young man, John had a love of all sports and played hockey, baseball, football, curling and bowling, to name a few. In his teen years, he won the Ontario Provincial Championship with the Kincardine hockey team. At the age of 17, his dislike for school and love of travel, led him to join the Royal Canadian Air Force where he trained as an avionics mechanic. He travelled the world, stationed in Cold Lake, Alberta, north to Goose Bay, Labrador, and overseas where he loved Sardinia, Italy, the most. Upon returning home once, his sister, Mary, arranged a card game with Carol who became his loving wife of 58 years, during which time there were many card games and laughter with family and friends. John was as easy-going as they came. He could fix anything and had a gentle soul, always putting his children first. Even through all his travels John’s favourite place in the world was the cottage he built with his father in 1955, on the shores of Lake Huron in Kincardine. There was nothing like a card game, a night at the band parade, and a sunset. May all of these be your eternity as you join your sister, Elizabeth (Betty); brothers-in-law, Murray, John, Peter, Bruce, and John W.; and nephew, Tommy. All are welcome to join us in a Celebration of John’s Life, Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the cottage, 231 Goderich Street, Kincardine. The event is informal, and sportswear, such as the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs, are welcome. Due to the limited parking at the cottage, guests are asked to park at Special Electronics and Design, located at 214 Bruce Ave., Kincardine.
