MARION ELEANOR ROBB (nee REID)

October 12, 2025

Marion Eleanor Robb of Ripley died Oct. 12, 2025, at the age of 96. A devoted sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and great-aunt, she died peacefully, surrounded by family. Born June 29, 1929, she was raised on Maple Lea Farms, near Reid’s Corners. Her parents, Lorne and Olive Reid, instilled early on, the value of hard work that guided Marion and her siblings, Russell, Evelyn, Isla and Gladys, and this lesson guided her throughout her life. Together, with first her husband, Jack Liddle, she helped farm while starting their family. Over the years, she also worked in the kitchen at The Bruce Inn, drove a school bus to Pine River Central School, and spent some time working in the physiotherapy area at Kincardine Hospital. She also spent a year in Hamilton with her sister, Evelyn, where they trained as registered nurses assistants. During all of these years Grandma Marion was happiest when she was preparing a full meal, in “no time flat,” for family and friends. Marion had a keen interest in cards and a love for friendly competition. She enjoyed many good games of bridge with her bridge groups early on in her retirement years and more recently, with the Tuesday ladies who came to Rosewood RVilla in Ripley. Euchre, and the occasional game of cribbage, were also interests. Her greatest joy, however, came from her family: Charles and Barb – Kim and John and Kent; Reid (predeceased); Dale and Sandra – Ashley and Gord, Darcey and Emily; Ollie and Brian – Duane and Cait, Derek and Carly, Dwight, and Dalton. She followed her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sports and activities with pride and enthusiasm. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Predeceased by her first husband, Jack Liddle; her son, Reid; parents, Lorne and Olive Reid; sister, Isla (Lovell McQuire); brothers-in-law, James Bradley and Dave Nesbit; and daughter-in-law, Barb Liddle. The family thanks the staff at RVilla for the care and kindness shown to assist Grandma Marion over the past six years. We appreciated Dr. Jason Murray’s compassionate caring and guidance, as well as the many doctors and nurses who provided medical care when Grandma Marion was admitted to the Kincardine Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, from 2-5 p.m., at the Ainsdale Golf Course, with special remembrances shared at 2:15 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held, with interment in Ripley Cemetery. In memory of Grandma Marion, donations may be made to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation; arrangements entrusted to the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Ripley; www.mackenzieandmccreath.com.
