JAMES "JIM" HAROLD VOGAN

October 23, 2025

James “Jim” Harold Vogan of Kincardine died at home, surrounded by the love of his family, Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, in his 72nd year, after losing his courageous battle with a long illness. Beloved husband of Shirley; and dear father of Amanda of Waterloo and T.J. (Kristina) of Guelph. He was the proud Poppa Jim of Genevieve and Charlotte. Missed by his siblings, Linda (Ken) Stanley of Kincardine, John (Tammy) Vogan of Waterloo, and Joe Vogan (Karen Fatt) of Guelph; as well as his in-laws, Brian (Teri) Schnittker of Port Elgin, Karen Jusek (Ken Ye) of Toronto, and Lori Schnittker (Terry Lee) of Ottawa; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Jack and Jean Vogan (nee Vines); and stepfather, Jack MacDonald. Jim had a distinguished teaching career at KDSS during which he made a lasting impact on countless students for more than 30 years. He was also a popular soccer and badminton coach. While Jim enjoyed a diverse range of sports, including hockey, baseball and soccer, fishing was his passion. He could be found on the rivers and lakes of Bruce County in any season. He became a fishing mentor to his family and friends, and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking and camping. He was a meticulous researcher and planner, ensuring his family and friends enjoyed wonderful adventures with him. Those who knew Jim best appreciated his sarcastic wit and love of practical jokes. A collector of hockey cards and records, he loved listening to music, cooking, gardening, watching car races and was quite a movie buff. Jim loved his family, friends and cherished cat, Callie. His humour, quick wit and guidance will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. A private family interment will be held at the Kincardine Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
