EMMA "JEAN" HAMMOND

Emma “Jean” Hammond of Kincardine died at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine, Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in her 87th year. Jean was born in Bruce Township to the late Arnold and Lyda (née Abbs) Hammond. She attended elementary school in the township and completed high school in Paisley. She then enrolled at Owen Sound Business College in the accounting program. Her early employment included the Circle Bar and Tom Phair’s. She finished her career with the Bruce Municipal Telephone System (now Bruce Telecom) where she was employed for a number of years. Jean was a wonderful hostess and along with her sister, Marian, enjoyed entertaining. Jean loved a good joke and took pleasure in singing. Missed by sister-in-law, Helen Hammond of Port Elgin, and several cousins. Predeceased by her brothers, George and Wallace; sister, Marian; and sister-in-law, Jean. Visitation was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, Friday, June 23, 2017 from 10-11 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11:30 a.m., with Pastor Brian Martin and Pastor Bonnie Mair officiating. Final resting place, Sanctuary Park Cemetery, Port Elgin. Memorial donations to the Huron Shores Hospice or the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
