IRVING S. KENNEDY
November 21, 2025
Irving S. Kennedy, formerly of Kincardine, died Nov. 21, 2025, in Barrie, at the age of 87. Born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, March 18, 1938, he was the son of Stanley and Anna Kennedy of Donkin, where he lived with his two brothers, Errol and Clive. He married his high school love, Joan McDougall (deceased Nov. 7, 2025). Irv joined the Air Force and was posted to Marville, France, from 1958-62 with his wife, Joan. There, they had two boys, Bryan and Vincent, with a third son, Brent, born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. While posted in France, Irv and his hockey team won the 1959-60 RCAF hockey championship, and Irv took home the top scorer of that season (25 years service). After the forces, he went to work at the Bruce Nuclear Plant, northwest of Tiverton, and settled down in Kincardine where he met his next love, Donna Wilson. They were married and had a wonderful relationship for 30 years. Donna’s children, Carol Ann, Larry, and Dorinda, welcomed him into their family as one of their own. Irv and Donna were deeply involved with the Kincardine Legion in Kincardine. He continued playing hockey until he was 67 years old, and continued playing golf until he was 84 years old. He was an accomplished sportsman in everything, including hockey, golf, baseball, horseshoes, and billiards. He will be deeply missed by his many friends and family, grandkids and great-grandkids of the Kennedys and Wilsons. Irv will be buried alongside his parents in a family plot on the Mira River in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
