Marion Ethel (Owens) Avery of Kincardine, a wonderful mom, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Dec. 16, 2025, at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine, in her 97th year. Dear Mom of Andy French and his wife, Shirley Steele; and Rick French and wife, Brenda; all of Kincardine. Loving Grandmother of Jim French and his wife, Beth Fawcett; Beth Blackwell and her husband, Glen; and Kate French and her husband, Adam Curran; and great-grandmother of Charles Blackwell and Charlotte Curran. Loved sister of Edward Owens and his wife, Georgia-Lee, of British Columbia. Survived by many nephews and nieces. Missed by Shirley Steele’s children, Jason Dodds and his wife Clare; Chad Dodds and Mayumi Yoshida; and Tonya Dodds-Sinasac and her husband, Jeff Sinasac; as well as grandchildren, Warren and Rachel. Predeceased by her father, Ernest Owens; and mother, Ethel Marion (Mudge) Owens; her husbands, Arthur Edward (Jim) French (1977) and Eldon Willard Avery (2007); and her brother, Donald Owens; and sister, Dorothy (Owens) Brooks. Marion was well-known to friends, neighbours and family for her kind and gentle nature, her ready smile, and for always making time to share a friendly word or a sweet treat. Her family extends a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre for their care and kindness. A special thanks, also, to the staff at Trillium Court Seniors' Community in Kincardine who respectfully cared for Marion and made her feel at home for the past six years. Memorial service and interment ceremony will be held at the Kincardine Cemetery at a later date.
