MARLENE RUTH CAMPBELL

December 6, 2017

Marlene Ruth Campbell, 79, died peacefully with her family by her side, Wednesday, Dec. 6. 2017. Marlene was born June 14, 1938, in Kincardine Township to parents, Wilfred and Marjorie Campbell (nee Neil). She is lovingly survived by her husband, Donald Campbell of Kincardine, formerly of Tiverton and Inverhuron; daughter, Susan, and husband Jim MacGregor of Langley, BC; son, Jamie, and wife Corinna of Milton; and son, Scott, and wife Elizabeth of Port Elgin. She will be greatly missed by her five grandchildren, Madison, Jack, Seth, Ethan and Colin; brother-in-law, Norman Campbell; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marlene is predeceased by her parents; her in-laws, Howard and Minnie Campbell; sister-in-law, Jean Campbell; and brother-in-law, Jim Campbell. After attending Teacher’s College in Stratford for two years, Marlene’s teaching career began in Neustadt and after two years there, she returned to Bruce County where she taught for another 25 years. Her patience and desire to encourage her students during her tenure as a teacher, resulted in many of them paying their respects back to her years later. Family was Marlene’s greatest passion. She was a devoted wife for 58 years, mother and grandmother, and a friend to so many. As a servant leader, Marlene was always doing for others. She enjoyed camping, was an avid card player and sports fan, and made many trips across Canada to both the East and West coasts. Marlene was a former member of the Tiverton Eastern Star, a member of the Tiverton Knox Presbyterian Church, a director of the Tiverton Agricultural Society for 20 years, a committee chairperson of the Bruce County Heritage Association for 10 years, and a long-time member of the Bruce Township Historical Society. The funeral will be conducted Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, by Rev. Jeanette Fleischer and Rev. David Chang, at the Tiverton Knox Presbyterian Church. Eulogies in memory of Marlene will be given by her daughter, Susan MacGregor, and niece, Debbie Prior. Serving as pallbearers are Edgar Pilgrim, Terry Neil, Gordon Brown, Wayne Schwandt, John N. McKay and Bruce Eskrick; and flower bearers, Madison Campbell, Seth and Ethan Campbell, and Colin Campbell. Memorial donations to Tiverton Knox Presbyterian Church or the Kincardine Hospital would be appreciated.
