It is with heavy hearts that the family announces that Ronald "Ron" Norman Kirchel of Kincardine is finally resting in peace after a courageous lengthy illness. He died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, with his wife, Pauline, and palliative care physician, Dr. Damian Gunaratne, at his side. He was 83. Loving father of Lesley (Iain) Stewart of Bowmanville, and Sarah Kirchel of Hamilton. Dear grandfather of Alexa (Chris), Chelsea (Matt), Daniel, and Rebecca (Kris); and grand-grandfather of Emma and Thomas. Survived by his brother, William Kirchel of England. A special thank you to Dr. Jason Murray and Dr. Damian Gunaratne for their wonderful care. Thank you to Kathy and her wonderful volunteers for their support, love and care while Ron was at the Huron Shores Hospice in Tiverton. You helped us all stay strong with Ron’s end-of-life journey. Thank you to all of the staff at the Tiverton Park Manor for the care given to Ron and Pauline. Thank you also to Kylie Pike at Retire-At-Home and her dedicated staff who helped us take care of Ron while we cared for him at home. You are truly doing a job you were meant to do. Special thank you to Dad's friends: Alex for your visits and many prayers, Brian who visited every day. We will never forget all of your endless support, friendship and especially your humour that helped us get through every day. Visitation will take place at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020, from 6-8 p.m. A memorial service to honour Ron’s life will be held at the funeral home, Friday, Jan. 24, 2020, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Gord Dunbar officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Huron Shores Hospice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. |
