Kenneth "Ken" Franklin Mewhinney of Gorrie and formerly of Lucknow, died suddenly June 25, 2020, in his home at the age of 65. Born Oct. 18, 1954, in Kincardine, he was the son of the late Frank (1979) and Doris (nee Esplen, 1987) Mewhinney. Dear brother of Marie (Mike) McAuley of St. Catharines, Murray (Linda) of Peterborough, Doug (Cathy) of Milton, Linda (Bev) Hunter of Stratford, Kathy (Rae) Nicholson of Goderich, and Dave (Ellen) of Stratford. Survived by his cousins, Wayne Mewhinney, Jim McTeer, Lorne and Don Mewhinney, Carol Seaman, Marlene Masters, Bill, Jim, and Nancy Esplen, Joan McAlpine and Judy Hackett. Missed by his nieces and nephews, Christine, Derek and Bradley Mewhinney, Jessica and David McAuley, Shawn and Tyler Mewhinney, Jeff and Jason Hunter, Curtis and Christopher Nicholson, and Matt Mewhinney. Throughout his life, Ken enjoyed playing broomball, and being involved in the 4-H calf club and the Lucknow Agricultural Society. His true passion was farming. He farmed his entire life, working with Andy and Murray Gaunt, and with Lorne Forester in the Lucknow area and then in the Whitechurch area. For the past 25-plus years, he worked with Bennett Farms near Gorrie, doing something he loved every day. Due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) restrictions, a private graveside service will be conducted at Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow.
