Lloyd “Allan” Ritchie of Lucknow, died Oct. 4, 2020, at the Wingham hospital, at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Violet (Culbert) who predeceased him in 2003. Allan was born in Ashfield Township on the home farm, Oct. 22, 1927, son of the late Isabelle (Nixon) and Wesley Ritchie. Dear father of his late daughter, Brenda (Jerry) Huizinga; and son, Bryce (Alexa Stoop) of Lucknow. Predeceased by special son, Kenny Ritchie. Missed by his 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Also survived by his daughter-in-law, Wendy Ritchie (Andy Furness) of Whitechurch; and son-in-law, Russell Grant of Belgrave. Allan bought the farm he was raised on, in 1949 when his parents retired. He farmed in Ashfield Township for many years, having dairy and beef cattle and growing mixed crops. He moved into his home in Lucknow and continued to help daily on the farm well into in his 80s. Most recently, you could find Allan tinkering in his yard or rocking in his chair on the front porch. He was always quick with a smile and a wave. A private visitation will be held for immediate family, at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, followed by a private graveside service at Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow. A public Celebration of Life will be held to honour Allan when COVID-19 (Coronavirus) restrictions are lifted and it is safe to do so. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy; arrangements entrusted to the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home; www.mackenzieandmccreath.com/ |
