Frederick “Fred” Lanting, formerly of Kincardine, died in Orangefield, Texas, Nov. 18, 2020. He was 64. Born in Galt, Cambridge, Ontario, Sept. 15, 1956, he was the son of Herman and Anne (VanderMeer) Lanting. He was schooled in the trade of a mortician in Calgary, Alberta, and had a number of other jobs. His last years, he worked for Vidor Memorial Funeral Home and Sabine Monuments, until he became too sick to work. In his spare time he loved to read, and he loved to bless other people. Survived by his wife, Mary-Kay Lanting of Orangefield; his daughter, Jane-Anne Ayarza and husband, Chuck of Oklahoma; and his sons, J.B. Lanting and wife, Victoria of Mont Belvieu, and Dillin Lanting and wife, Danielle of Corpus Christi; as well as his grandchildren, Bethany Ayarza, Josh Ayarza, Jonathan Ayarza, Jessica Ayarza, Dustin Ayarza, Kylee Lanting, Jennings "Jay" Lanting, Benton Lanting, Landon Lanting and Khloe Lanting; and eight great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brothers, Peter and Judy Lanting of Kincardine, and Henry Lanting of Kirkland Lake; and his sisters, Cathy and Christopher Chatten of Tillsonburg, Marj Lanting of St. Catharines, and Connie and David Bakker of Jordan Station; as well as his aunts and uncles, and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; and his brother, Sidney Ralph Lanting. Visitation was held Monday, Nov. 23, 2020, at Old First Orange Baptist Church in Orange. The funeral was held Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020, at 2 p.m., at Old First Orange Baptist Church in Orange, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Orange.
