Joyce Johnstone (Norman) of Lucknow, died peacefully at the Wingham and District Hospital, Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, at the age of 95. Born in Bishop Auckland, England, Dec. 9, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Clara (Jackson) and Hugh Norman. During the Second World War, Joyce met J.C. (James C.) Johnstone who was stationed in England with the Air Force, and proudly became a war bride. She is survived by her children, Tony (Donna) Johnstone of Lucknow, Brian (Linda) Johnstone of Lucknow, Donald Johnstone of Vancouver, B.C., Murray (Myrna) Johnstone of Calgary, Alberta, Joyce Anne (Lin) Hewitt of Kincardine, Sandra (Glen) Opperman of Formosa, and Brenda (Dave) Hare of Walkerton. Also greatly missed by 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; as well as her niece, Judith Lawton in England; and sister-in-law, Ruth Snelgrove of Waterloo. Predeceased by sister, Edith (Stan) Lawton; and grandchildren, Melissa Hare and Michael Hewitt. Due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) restrictions, a private funeral service will take place at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow. Spring interment, South Kinloss Cemetery.
